Descripción del comportamiento de la estructura de las redes de poder informal en una compañía de producción de fundas plásticas ubicada en la ciudad de Quito

Abstract

This Undergraduate thesis is intended to describe the behavior of the structure of informal power networks. The informal power networks studied belong to the production company of plastic covers: Plastix S.A, located in the city of Quito. The description of the behavior of informal power networks was analyzed using reticular analysis or ARS (social network analysis). The ARS studies the behavior of individuals, the structure of the network and the interactions between the two levels (Menéndez, 2003). The informal power studied is the power of expert. The titling work had a quantitative approach and exploratory and descriptive scope.

The results were: i) obtaining the graphs of each question related to informal power. ii) The description of the structure of each network based on three different identifiers: Indegree (Entry Level), Betweeness (Centrality of Intermediation) and Closeness Centrality. iii) Comparison between power networks by identifier.

The results allowed us to know the way that the work happens in the organization. The description of the structure of the informal power network allows Plastix S.A to identify the personnel that is central within the network. Which allows to know who has power, when, how and why she/he has it. With this information the heads of the enterprise can make decisions. Finally, the conclusions are the main findings as well as recommendations.
