This work develops the modeling and simulation of grounding systems using the finite element method. The simulation is carried out with different geometric scenarios, material resistivity, current values and places where the current will enter the grounding grid. The finite element method is used in three dimensions using Analysis System (ANSYS) as simulation software. To validate the model, a real scale prototype of a grounding grid in an electrolytic tank is used. Both the simulation and the real model are subjected to the same conditions. The validation consists of comparing the voltage profiles measured on the physical model and the simulated one. Subsequently, different grounding meshes are simulated and the inherent characteristics of each type of configuration are measured, such as the number of finite elements, the quantity of elements, the heating produced, the power dissipated, and the resistance of the grounding mesh. All these results allow to analyze and discuss the qualities of the geometric configuration of the grid at different scenarios. The objective of this project is to generate applicable knowledge for the design of a grounding system (SPAT) and to evaluate results such as step voltage, touch voltage, and maximum potential rise (GPR).es_ES
