Análisis de la producción de la hilandería intercomunal salinas (HIS).

Abstract

This research work analyzes the production of Intercommunal Spinning Mill: Hilandería Intercomunal Salinas (HIS). The mill was founded in 1987, in Salinas of Guaranda, located in the Bolivar Province. This work identifies and documents the manufacturing process of it’s yarn wool product. It also examines the performance of said process, by using the historical data to quantify the production indexes. Those results are then used to propose the implementation of the 5S methodology as a continuous improvement tool.

This research has descriptive-non-experimental scope and focuses on quantitative analysis. The information was collected: during visits to the HIS Mill, interviews with managers, bibliographic documentation reviews and the compilation of manufacturing records. The results of the spinning mill's production performance analysis reveals: the efficiency varies between 15% and 85%, and the plant utilization is below 50%. Therefore, the use of the S5 methodology is proposed, as an elementary tool to eliminate waste and activities that unnecessarily consume resources. This will improve the efficiency and performance of the productive processes.
