Determinantes de victimización en América latina durante el período 1996-2016.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the determinants that, according to economic theory, influence victimization in Latin America, during the period 1996-2016. For this purpose, panel data from the World Bank, the International Labor Organization, and mainly from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean were used for 17 countries in a period of 21 years. The econometric methodology used was the random effects method. The results indicate that poverty, the rent and the insufficient income perception variable have a significant positive impact on victimization, while economic growth and trust in the police have a significant negative impact on victimization, which agrees with the exposed literature.
