La educación en la primera infancia en el Ecuador

Abstract

Education in early childhood is a fundamental pillar for the future achievements of people, however, there are differences in access to education in the first period of life of infants. In this sense, this research aims to identify the socioeconomic factors that influence access to early education in Ecuador. Additionally, the factors that influence the parents’ decision on the type of educational center, public or private, are identified. For this, two probit models are estimated, using data from the sixth round of the Living Conditions Survey (EVC), period 2013-2014. The results suggest that factors such as income and parental education are strong predictors of the infant’s attendance at an initial education center.
